Edit a Work Package

The following steps assume you are using the Standard View Ribbon Menu option to update a work package or to convert a planning package to work package.

  1. Select Home > Earned Value in the Navigation Menu. The main EVMax window displays.
  2. Select your project from the Project dropdown in the Ribbon Menu.
  3. Expand the WBS hierarchy as needed to view the work packages.
  4. Select the work package you want to edit in the top pane to enable the Work Package tab in the bottom pane, Add/Edit tab window. Use the Add/Edit tab window to modify the work package details as needed.
    1. Optional. Update the Description for the work package.
    2. Optional. Select a different Assumption type from the dropdown. When the Assumption is set to Parametric, also select the Parametric Type from the dropdown.
    3. Optional. Select a different Start Date or End Date to automatically calculate the Duration. Or, select a different Start Date or revise the Duration to automatically determine the End Date. This updates the work package period of performance.
    4. Optional. Select a different Spread option from the dropdown.
    5. Optional. If you have any work package user defined codes or fields, a list of the codes or fields displays at the bottom of the Add/Edit window. For each Prompt row, select, enter, update, or delete the applicable code or text in the Value column cell.
  5. Click Save in the Ribbon Menu or use the Ctrl + S shortcut.
  6. Optional. Select the Status EVT tab for the work package and then select a different EV Technique from the dropdown.

    Tip:

    When the earned value technique is set to "Planning Package" and you want to convert the planning package to work package, use the EVT Technique dropdown to assign an appropriate technique for the work effort such as "Earning Rules", "Percent Complete" or "Level of Effort."

  7. Click Save in the Ribbon Menu or use the Ctrl + S shortcut.
